Walker adds experience to his backroom staff

The club are delighted and excited to announce that Kieron O’Brien has been confirmed as Brian Walkers No2. for the 2016/17 season following Ben Watson’s decision to step aside due to work commitments. Watson will continue to support Walker and O’Brien on match days where possible.

O’Brien has agreed to sign-on, on a Player/Coach basis with the club hoping his wealth of experience will help to continue the clubs on-field success and progress further youngsters through to the first team.

Kieron started his footballing career with Hull City before going on to represent a host of semi professional clubs including Bradford Park Avenue, Guiseley AFC, Goole AFC & Selby Town during which time he played in the FA Cup. He joined the playing squad at Wilberfoss AFC last season and was part of their unbeaten 2015/16 league winning campaign. With a wealth of footballing knowledge O’Brien has been asked to oversee training sessions and commented ‘I am excited for pre season to start on 16th July and putting the boys through their paces. I know most of the lads from last season but I’m looking forward to welcoming a few new faces and helping push this great club on to the next level.’

Manager Brian Walker commented ‘I’m sad we’ve lost Ben, as hes been a great help, but obviously I’m absolutely delighted to have Kieron on board, he offered me lots of advice and support as first team vice captain last year and I hope as a management team we can continue to develop this club further.’

The club would also like to take this opportunity to thank Ben Watson for all his efforts at the club and look forward to having him around the Storking Lane Ground when possible.
