Paul Jacques’ men suffered defeat in last nights friendly with Heslington FC. Although controlling last parts of the game 2 mistakes cost the Foss boys both resulting in goals for the away side.
In the second half following stern words and a reshape at half time from the gaffer the team came out with a much better tempo and looked dangerous going forward. After an hour Foss should of pulled one goal back when good work by Sam Gibney on the right produced a superb cross and from 3 yards out and the goal gaping Mark Jones mistimed his run, resulting in him missing the target. From then on it was end to end with both teams carving out good chances but failing to capitalise.
With 5 minutes to go good work on the left from Charlie Dodds produced a teasing cross that was dealt with by the Heslington defence however the ball dropped to Dan Jacques just inside the box, who, on the half volley smashed the ball home to reduce the deficit.
A little too late from Foss with the game ending 2-1 to the visitors.
After the game manager Jacques took the positives from the game saying ‘it was another stepping stone in the development of his very young team’ with ‘some great passages of play’ however ‘the team must learn from individual mistakes that are costing the team results’
MOM – Mark Hughes – Came on and made a big difference leading the line with great hold up play and linking attacks well.
